Looks like Google has added another tool to explore. At PubCon in Las Vegas this week, Matt Cutts, the head of Google’s web spam team, announced the launch of their “Disavow Links” tool.
What does this mean? If you feel your site is being harmed by low-quality links that you don’t control, you can ask Google to not take them into account while your site is being assessed.
Here’s the official announcement from the Google Webmaster Tools blog, and here’s some reaction (along with some helpful pointers) from the knowledgeable folks over at SEOmoz.
Also, here’s a 10 minute video from Matt Cutts that explains it all for you.
Happy disavowing!
